September Updates

Darts Tournament Final

The Bridge Darts Tournament 2025

It has been a fantastic tournament from beginning to end, with all 3 sites throwing themselves into something new! All 3 sites played incredibly well, but of course it came down to the final! It was a close call with 11 points to both Northampton and Wellingborough! Jon and Mick played in the final and what a game it was…The last winning point went to Jon, taking the winning trophy home to Wellingborough! Well done to both, a very good game! We also awarded the most improved players, to Terri, Mark and Rob for their fantastic efforts in the games played! Well done. Not only have we had a laugh along the way but we have formed new friendships, new skills and new memories! It has been a pleasure to watch you all grow in confidence and skills along the way. We hope you join us again next year! A very special thank you to our incredible volunteers- Richard for creating the Darts group and encouraging our members to play (without him this would never have happened!). Caroline & Sue for their delicious cooking and support in the kitchen. Another very special thank you to our two members Kieran & Jon who helped in the running of the darts tournament- scoring and ensuring it ran smoothly! We couldn’t do it without you all

First Aid with Adult Learning

On Friday 12th September members in Northampton gained invaluable basic first aid training from Janet at Adult Learning. We were able to practise CPR, learn techniques to bandage heavy bleeds and the safe way to help someone who is choking. Some great knowledge was learnt to use outside of Bridge, and it was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

Marie Curie Event

We had our ‘village fete’ on September 18th.
We were asked by a member if we could host a fundraiser for Marie Curie, so that’s what we did!
The guys from Marie Curie and Macmillan joined us to provide info to all our members and we really appreciate them joining us.
There was lots of people from all areas of Northants joining in and raising money for a great cause. We had a ‘bake off’, with members making cakes to sell, and we had a worthy winner in Jo. To all that entered, we thank you so much for your kindness.
We had crafts for sale, raffles and games, and an afternoon tea. Members also had an opportunity to throw some wet sponges at staff members (they took it well!) and they were joined by some volunteers and members who also wanted to contribute and ‘take one for the team’.
As always there was a great atmosphere and we want to say a huge thank you to the members who volunteered and who took part – you make these events so fun!
We had lots of our fantastic volunteers contributing to the success (as they always do!) and we’re very grateful for you guys.

Picnic in the Park

What a great day we had together on September 24th at picnic in the park!
All sites around the county came together to celebrate recovery, with a few games, a bit of food, and most importantly to make connections with others in recovery.
So much fun and laughter and we all love these days so much – here’s to more!
Thanks to all of you who came and made it so much fun.
Well done to the girls for beating the boys in rounders- fully deserved!
