Darts Tournament

In May we started a Darts tournament between all 3 Bridge sites. The first game of the Darts tournament was Wellingborough vs Corby- a fantastic game and everyone played so well. Although a game of challenge and competition, it’s always a pleasure to watch members building connections and sailing through recovery together- that is what Bridge is all about. A great game, but of course there could only be one winner. Taking home a point towards the final, was Jonathon from Wellingborough- a very well done!
The second game of the Darts tournament was Northampton vs Wellingborough- a brilliant game! We had some fantastic players and so much support amongst one another. We saw everyone’s confidence grow as the game developed- it was lovely to see. A very well done to you all! As always, there can only be one winner. We had knock out rounds with Northampton playing against Wellingborough members. In the final we had Mick and Jonathon- it was a very close game, however Jonathon once more took the point home for Wellingborough!  A very big thank you to our amazing volunteers in the kitchen who cooked a delicious meal and kept everyone hydrated!
Corby vs Northampton game will be announced soon.

Heads-up Tournament

The annual Heads-Up tournament was held on Tuesday 20th of May at Sixfields stadium. For the second year running Bridge entered three teams, with players joining from all three sites. Members also travelled from each site to support the teams. There were ten teams that entered this year, three from Bridge, two from Recovery House, two from Jericho (Recovery House, Derby), two teams St Andrews, FC Equalise and Make Every Player Count. The tournament was split into two leagues, with everyone playing each other once, and games lasting 15 minutes each. League games were played in a competitive manner, but also these days are about having fun which we all did.

All 3 Bridge teams played incredibly well on a sun-soaked day. Bridge (3) made it through to the final against St Andrews and won on pens with the goalkeeper saving two out of three penalties. An immensely proud day for Bridge, taking the winning trophy home for the third year in row! Incredible achievement, and well deserved.

We would like to thank Russell Lewis at Northampton Town FC Community Trust who organises these great days and gives our members and others in the community the opportunity to play on the Sixfields pitch.

Prostate Cancer Awareness

Members attended a Men’s Bowel & Prostrate Cancer Awareness Drop In, hosted by G.P.A at Northampton Bridge.
Members commentated on how the informal drop in set up made it easier to attend and not miss out on the other Bridge activities taking place on the day as it was a busy day indeed! Over 13 members and staff attended and the feedback from all who used the drop in said how informative it was on a subject that’s sometimes difficult to talk about to others. By increasing awareness, we can help men seek timely medical attention when needed.

Guided Meditation

We recently enjoyed a fantastic day in Corby with a session of Guided Meditation and Sound healing, and it’s  safe to say everyone left feeling deeply relaxed and refreshed.

Sound therapy uses soothing vibrations and tones to help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and promote deep relaxation.

Combined with guided meditation these practices create a powerful experience that supports emotional healing and mental clarity.

We will now be having these sessions twice a month in Corby.
