August Updates

Table Tennis Tournament

Table Tennis Tournament

Bridge held their summer table tennis tournament, which consisted of members from around the county, and Recovery House Encompass Charity. In total it was another well attended event with 18 people taking part and many more coming to watch.

The atmosphere was great in the Northampton building, and there were some great games of table tennis played.

After the group stage and potentially playing up to 5 games, the players were split into the Table Tennis shield and The Paul Murphy Shield, which then went into a knockout format.

At the end of the tournament, we had 2 new champions, and 3 players playing in their first final! Dean beat Andrew in the table tennis shield final, and Mick beat Charlie in the Paul Murphy Shield final.

We would like to thank everyone who came to play and spectate, these days can not be as successful as they are without you all, and it is a fantastic way to celebrate recovery.

Allotment Update

Some great results at the allotment this month, the sun was shining and everyone was in good spirits! We have been super busy harvesting all our lovely crops, as a result of this we had potatoes, courgettes, tomatoes, french beans and beetroots available in the cafe as usual for our members to take home, one of our allotment volunteers made a lovely vegetable soup with the produce. Other great meals were also made this month including one pictured below using Green beans and Garlic from the Allotment.
We also measured the sunflowers for our annual sunflower growing competition and the winner is…Andrew, at a whopping 202cm! A special mention to Nigel who grew the sunflower with the biggest head!
A big thanks to all our wonderful volunteers who are working so hard at the moment to keep our crops watered and weeded.

Active Family Fun Day

On August 6th we attended an ‘Active Family Fun Day’ in Corby, hosted by North Northamptonshire Council, and were joined by Family Support Link.
It was a great day out and we’re glad to be involved with events like these, raising awareness of the support on offer.
There were lots of things for people to do.
I’m sure you’ll agree that Sukhy looks good in the Mayoral robes
