The programme now provides Positive Activities. We aim to build on the intensive programmes of supervision and treatment which are currently in place in the county, by providing activities, groups, advice and training for clients, in order to:

  • Help them constructively fill their time and develop or maintain a sense of purpose.
  • Improve their health and well being.
  • Address their problems.
  • Increase their employability.

In light of the above, we are developing a programme of physical and other activities that will be available to drug-using offenders. These activities are outlined below:

  • Gym Sessions
In partnership with borough councils and leisure centres in Northampton, Wellingborough, Rushden, Corby and Thrapston we offer gym places to a small number of clients.
  • Women's Group
We now offer special fitness sessions for women only.
  • Boxing
There is an on-going boxing programme run by ABA-qualified instructors. Organised in conjunction with Rough and Ready gym, it runs once a week and leads to nationally accredited awards in recreational boxing.
  • Training Events
There are training events open to both mentors and clients aimed at improving their skills and we are working with the local councils and other bodies to enable those interested to undertake courses such as F.A. coaching badges and Community Sports Leader Award.
  • Football
In partnership with Northampton Town's Football in the Community scheme, we run a twice-weekly football course for people with drugs, alcohol, homelessness or mental health problems.
  • Kickboxing
There is now a weekly kickboxing class in Northampton, delivered by Rough and Ready instructors, and leading to gradings.

If you think that you could benefit from any of our activities then please ask to be referred to the project. If you are not presently involved with any other agencies then please refer yourself by contacting us. Alternatively you can refer yourself on line by completing our self-referral form.

If you have any ideas about other activities then please let us know and we will do our best to implement them.
