Referrals between partners can only serve to increase the facilities available and provide a more comprehensive service, that will meet the needs of the local community.
CAN is an independent regional agency, first established in 1972. CAN provides a range of drug, alcohol and homelessness services throughout Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire. Our service is founded on the expertise that we have developed through experience, basing our work on best practice and developing effective partnerships.
Drugs and Alcohol
CAN has a team of specialist drug and alcohol workers that offer a range of services in the community including:
telephone advice, information and counselling
one-to-one adivce, information and counselling
structured day-care
specialist services for young people
prevention services
specialist services within the criminal justice system
complementary therapy
specialist services for minority ethnic groups
specialist services for substance using parents
groupwork
advice on and referral to other service providers that may be able to help
needle exchange
Homelessness and Housing
Having somewhere to live is a basic human need. We provide:
help and advice on benefits, housing and health care
computer training
numeracy and literacy support
showers and laundry facilities
outreach to rough sleepers
tenancy support service
help with acquiring furniture, completing forms and registering with utilities
life skills training and advice on dealing with neighbours
mediation between landlord and tenant
rent deposit scheme
voluntary work opportunities through FOOTSTEPS project
supported housing for homeless people with drug and alcohol problems
